Last week BET organized the annual Black Girls Rock! event and Rihanna was honored with a Rock Star Award. To be celebrated and acknowledged for doing what she loves and hopes to raise a little Black girl who rocks just like her in the future!
“Role model is not the title they like to give me, ya know? That’s why tonight is so important to me, because I think I can inspire a lot of young women to be themselves, and that is half the battle”, she tells in her acceptance speech.
This years Black Girls Rock was a star-studded venture in which women of color were celebrated for their influence across a multitude of industries, from arts and entertainment to business and science. The evening was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross. Get a full recap of BBET’s Black Girls Rock here.
